Carlos A. Moreno is a candidate for Salt Lake County Council in District 2 where he seeks to represent the communities of Copperton, Herriman, Kearns, Magna, South Jordan, West Jordan and West Valley City. He is the official candidate of the Republican Party and is endorsed by the Independent American Party.
Carlos is a proud American, and as a member of the Salt Lake County Council, he will fight for the West Side. Originally an immigrant and political asylee from Venezuela due speaking out against the socialist regime, he earned U.S. citizenship in October 2022. In America, he and his wife have discovered the miracles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These are a few of my priorities for the Salt Lake County Council.
As a candidate for Salt Lake County Council in District 2, the importance of the West Side holds a special place in my heart, reflecting not only my love for this vibrant community but also my years of dedicated service. The west side embodies a rich tapestry of diverse cultures, resilient individuals, and a strong sense of community spirit that I have had the honor of contributing to and being a part of for many years.
As a candidate for Salt Lake County Council in District 2, I am committed to promoting fiscal discipline and efficient government. I believe in identifying and eliminating wasteful spending to ensure that taxpayer dollars are utilized efficiently and effectively. My approach involves conducting thorough reviews of the county budget to pinpoint areas where resources can be allocated more judiciously.
I will be an advocate for enhanced trail networks on the West Side, including the addition of trails and improved connectivity amongst trails and amongst our various cities. I would also like to see additional pickleball courts added on the West Side.
As a candidate for Salt Lake County Council on the West Side, I am committed to bolstering civic education and engagement to strengthen the foundation of our democracy. To achieve this, I propose a comprehensive plan:
Town Hall Meetings and Community Forums:
Conducting regular town hall meetings and community forums will create a space for open dialogue, ensuring that the concerns and perspectives of residents are heard and addressed.
Educational Programs on Local Government:
Implementing educational programs focused on local government structures and processes will empower constituents with the knowledge necessary for active participation in decision-making processes.
Partnerships with Schools and Community Organizations:
Foster partnerships with local schools and community organizations to integrate civic education into curricula and outreach efforts. This approach aims to cultivate a culture of civic responsibility from a young age.
Utilization of Technology for Accessibility:
Harnessing technology, such as online surveys and social media platforms, will enhance accessibility and engagement. This approach allows constituents to conveniently voice their opinions and stay informed about local governance.
Volunteer Initiatives and Community Service Projects:
Finally, establishing volunteer initiatives and community service projects will encourage residents to actively contribute to the improvement of their neighborhoods. This fosters a sense of shared responsibility and pride in local governance. Through these initiatives, constituents can become more informed, empowered, and actively involved in shaping the future of Salt Lake County.
